Witness for the Prosecution was the title of Episode 7 of Season 2 of the Chevrolet-Tele-Theatre TV series on the American broadcast network NBC. The series was an anthology production which was performed and aired live and often featured adaptations from one-act stage plays. In this case, the episode was an adaptation of Agatha Christie's short story The Witness for the Prosecution (Christie's own stageplay adaptation had not been written yet). This Chevrolet-Tele-Theatre episode has the distinction of being the first adaptation of Christie's works on American television.[1] The episode was directed by Gordon Duff and aired on Halloween Day 31 Oct 1949.
