In the novel A Pocket Full of Rye, Vivian Edward Dubois is a golf and tennis player. He is also the lover of Adele Fortescue, and the sole benefactor of her will. Although, since she died so soon after her husband Vivien didn’t inherit Rex Fortescue’s fortune.

In the BBC 1985 adaptation of the novel which formed part of the Miss Marple series, the part of Dubois is played by Martyn Stanbridge.
