In the novel The Mystery of the Blue Train, Villa Marguerite is the home of Rosalie Tamplin, in Cap Martin. She lives there with her younger fourth husband Charles, and her daughter Lenox. Several parties have been hosted there, and they are "justly celebrated".
During the war, Lady Tamplin ran an Officers' Hospital at the villa. Also during this time, there was a robbery at the villa, and Lady Tamplin's jewels were stolen. Among the stolen jewels were some "very famous emeralds", which were heirlooms of the Tamplin family.
The villa has a terrace, with pink geraniums twining along the balustrade. From there, the Mediterranean is visible through the branches of mimosa.
