In the novel They Came to Baghdad, Victoria Jones is a young British woman with an appetite adventure. She is working as a typist for Mr Greenholtz at the firm Greenholtz, Simmons and Lederbetter, but is forced to resign. She takes a job accompanying a Mrs Hamilton Clipp to Baghdad.
Her appearance resembles that of Anne Scheele.
She claims to be the niece of Dr Pauncefoot Jones and of the Bishop of Llangow, none of which is true.
