In Meurtre au Champagne, the Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie adaptation of Sparkling Cyanide, Victor Lebrun is the parallel of Victor Drake from the original novel.
In this adaptation he is a hardened criminal with a history of car theft, forgery, false accounting and misappropriation of property. At the beginning of the episode, we see commissaire Laurence warning Lebrun off from attempting to blackmail one Mdm Bruno (likely to be the Simone in the credits).
In this adaptation there is no Lucilla Drake who mediates Victor's demands for money. He simply approaches his cousin Elvire Morenkova (Rosemary Barton) and Georges Leroy (George Barton) directly for money. He calls Elvire by her real name "Hélène Lebrun". It could be blackmail in that Elvire has something in her background to hide, or just simply that she and her husband have no wish to be known as a relative of this unsavory character. At the same time, Victor appears to get on well with Violette (Iris Marle). Violette lodges with him rather than stays at the Royal Hotel while working at the set during the shooting of Elvire's film.
Like in the original, Lebrun romances Babette (Ruth Lessing) in order to execute his plans. Only in this case, Lebrun does not pose as a waiter in the restaurant. Babette does all the necessary herself.
Victor Lebrun is portrayed by Luis Inacio.
