Agatha Christie Wiki

In the novel The Hollow, Veronica Cray is an actress. She is very beautiful and abnormally egotistical. One of her films is called Lady Rides on Tiger. Inspector Grange liked the film, but otherwise he felt that she was a bit too highbrow for his taste. Dr Christow called her an "intellectual actress" and she has a university degree. She also has opinions on playwrights William Shakespeare and August Strindberg.

Fifteen years ago she was engaged to John Christow and wanted him to abandon everything to follow her to Hollywood, but he rejected her; she found this unbearable. Instead John married Gerda and Veronica is also married. However, Christow is still attracted to her and, it is implied that he had went to her cottage the night before he was shot. It may be the action that triggered Gerda's jealousy.
