In Yokoku Satsujin, the 2019 TV Asahi Japanese adaptation of A Murder is Announced, Tsuchida Torami (土田寅美 - Torami Tsuchida in Western format) is the direct parallel of Dora Bunner in the original novel. She is also nicknamed "Dora", a name probably constructed from the syllables of her given name. She lives with Kuroiwa Reiri "Reiri" (Letitia Blacklock) and the others living at Komichi-no-yakata (Little Hall - "Little Paddocks").
Deviating slightly from the orignal, in this adaptation, it is Reiri who writes to Dora suggesting that she comes to live with her, and not the other way around. This was because "Reiri" was, in reality, her younger sister "Rori" (Kuroiwa Rouri 黒岩楼里) trying to pose as her older sibling. Rori wanted Dora to live with her to "affirm" her new identity. Dora was at that time alone without relatives and suffered from frequent headaches and rheumatism and she was happy to accept. There is a flashback at the end which shows Rori trying to persuade Dora to call her Reiri. She agrees reluctantly.
As with Dora Bunner, this proves to be a mistake. In the first place, Dora was extremely garrulous and talkative. When Hachiya Monma ("Hamon") (Julian Harmon) is complimented by Chief Inspector Shokokuji for knowing so well the interplay of relationships in the "Little Hall" household, Hamon comments that even if they did not ask, Dora would volunteer everything. During police interviews, she monopolised the talking and went beyond what Reiri wanted. Secondly, Dora also proved to be very muddled and often said "Rori" when she should say "Reiri". This happened in front of Chief Inspector Shokokuji once, and on another occasion doing her birthday party, a scene which was captured on video on the cellphones of various party goers.
Like in the original, Dora is killed by painkillers to which some poison had been added. In this case, it was a plant poison from a plant called "himeno tsuzura" (ヒメノツヅラ). Reiri (Rori) threw her a party before that but there is no special "Delicious Death" cake or any other delicacy.
Dora liked to preserve her memories and the police found many SD cards containing photos and videos. Chief Inspector Shokokuji used these to reconstruct Dora's voice which he played back to induce Rori to break down and confess.
The part of Dora is played by Muroi Shigeru (室井滋).
