In the short story The Harlequin Tea Set, Tom Addison is a childhood friend of Mr Satterthwaite. He has a background in the Diplomatic Service and was abroad for several foreign posts over the years. While in Spain he married a Spanish girl, and they had two daughters. His wife died young and both of his daughters has also passed away. In his old days he lives at Doverton Kingsbourne and for the past months the rest of his family stays with him.
