Theodore Blunt is the owner of The International Detective Agency. He is apparently working for foreign intelligence and has been using his agency as a letter box to receive mail from foreign agents. After he is arrested, he did not reveal everything that he knew to the British secret service, who believed Blunt's contacts might continue to comunicate with the him. Hence in A Fairy in the Flat/A Pot of Tea, Tommy Beresford is asked by his secret service boss to pose as Blunt to watch out for such attempts to communicate. He maintains this pose for the subsequent stories in Partners in Crime.
