Outline[]

The play has been described as a straight-forward transposition of the plot of the book to the stage and can be staged with as few as five cast members, three male and two female. The character of Albert Batt is deleted and the names of the gang members have been changed, with some of the original characters being merged. Some events, particularly where Tuppence, Tommy or Julius Hersheimer follow dead end leads (such as tailing Whittington to a nursing home or going after a red herring to Moat House) have been deleted.
