Agatha Christie Wiki

In the novel By the Pricking of My Thumbs, The Lamb and Flag is one of two inns in Market Basing. Tuppence was recommended to the Lamb despite the fact that the other inn, The Blue Dragon had two stars. Tuppence found the recommendation to be accurate. The food at the Lamb was good and plentiful. It was hearty food for farmers, not fake French menus for passing motorists.

Real world inspiration[]

It is likely that the Lamb and Flag is based on the actual Lamb hotel at Wallingford, a town where Agatha Christie lived and on which she based Market Basing.[1][2]
