In the novel Death Comes as the End, the plot centres around the family of the ka-priest Imhotep who lived around 2000 B.C. in Egypt. Imhotep is the key figure in the narrative and the patriach of the household, as such, this family tree is named after him, even though at the time of the events in the novel, his mother was still alive.

- (i) Esa
