In Yokoku Satsujin, the 2019 TV Asahi Japanese adaptation of A Murder is Announced, Tachibana Shiori (立花詩織 - Shiori Tachibana in Western format) is the parallel of Phillipa Haymes in the original novel. She is nicknamed "Rika", a name probably constructed from the "Ri" syllable of her given name. She lives with Kuroiwa Reiri "Reiri" (Letitia Blacklock) and others at Komichi-no-yakata (Little Hall - "Little Paddocks").

Her backstory is slightly different from Phillipa Haymes. Here she is not married and she works as an artist, not a gardener. She uses the attic of the house as her room/ painting studio and this causes the cook Michie to dislike her because that used to be Michie's room.

After Tsuchida Torami ("Dora") Dora Bunner dies, forensic analysis finds that the poison comes from the root of a plant called "himeno tsuzura" (ヒメノツヅラ). Rika had apparently planted such plants in the garden. She tells police that she planted them because she likes the purple flowers and wanted to paint them. But police also find a piece of plant root in her waste basket and she is arrested.

After extensive checks with art societies, police learn that her real name is "Sunahara Enma" (砂原炎真), the daughter of Soniya (素仁愛), the sister of the late Hokkaido millionaire Gaido Randoru (外道兰毘). In the original story, Phillipa Haymes was "Pip" and not "Emma". Further checks also showed that Rika had once been a corporal of the Japan Ground Self Defence Force in Aomori Prefecture. Therefore she had been trained in firearms. In the original, it is Julia Simmons who knew how to handle weapons. Rika has the same line as Julia that if she had wanted to shoot "Reiri", she wouldn't have needed three shots.

At the end of the show, Rika marries Akutagawa Fumishi (Edmund Swettenham), an event which parallels the original. Here there is a slight twist in that the usually cold Chief Inspector Shokokuji develops a romantic interest in Rika but his hopes are dashed.

The part of Rika is played by Kitano Kii (北乃きい).
