It is managed by Father Brophy and supported by a knitting circle, which includes among its members Miss Marple, Minnie Tulliver, Grace Ritchie and Cicely Beauclerk who is herself an orphanage alumni.
Other orphanage alumni mentioned in this episode include:
- Alfred Pollock - gardener of Greenshaw's Folly
- Edwin Beauclerk - late younger brother of Cicely.
