In the novel Appointment with Death, Solomon Hotel is a grand hotel in Jerusalem. Hercule Poirot stayed there, as did the Boynton family and Dr Sarah King as well as a large number of famous people. "Seems to me all the world and his wife are at the Solomon Hotel," Jefferson Cope says at one point.

Given the name, it is possible that Agatha Christie based the hotel on the actual "King David Hotel" (Solomon being the son of King David). The King David was opened in 1931 and was the leading and most luxurious hotel in Jerusalem.
