In the novel A Murder is Announced, Simla Lodge was the home of Colonel Wright, in St. Mary Mead. Miss Marple mentioned it in conversation with Bunch Harmon. They were thinking of village parallels for the people in Chipping Cleghorn and had come to the parallel for "Anglo-Indian colonels", of which Colonel Wright was one. Simla is, of course, an Indian hill resort.
