In the novel 4.50 from Paddington, Rutherford Hall is the family home of the Crackenthorpe family, built by Josiah Crackenthorpe in 1884.

The estate is almost entierly surrounded by Brackhampton. It is situated along the railway, where the trains between Paddington Station and St. Mary Mead runs.

In the grounds of Rutherford Hall is the Long Barn, a long stone building near the back drive.
