In The Mirror Crack'd, the EMI films 1980 adaptation of the The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side, Roy is a border collie belonging to Freddie Hawkins, a young boy at the village fete held at Gossington Hall. Freddie allows Roy to run away from him and the dog soon causes havoc at the sack race. Miss Marple restrains Roy and asks Freddie to retrieve his dog. Freddie summons Roy who runs towards him but his leash is caught around Miss Marple's leg and she trips and falls, injuring her ankle and putting her out of action for most of the duration of the film. She is thus at home by the time the death of Heather Babcock takes place during the fete and Miss Marple is forced to conduct the investigation from home, relying on inputs from Cherry Baker and Inspector Craddock.
