Rover (The Edge)

In the short story The Edge, Rover is a dog belonging to Claire Halliwell who plays a pivotal role in the plot. Claire lived alone with Rover in her cottage in the village of Daymer's End. One day, Rover is run over by a car. As Claire did not have any faith in the local vet, she decided to take him to Reeves in the town of Skippington some forty miles away. After leaving Rover with the vet, Claire decided to take lunch at "The County Arms Hotel". What she saw in the hotel guest book forms the main plot of the story.
