Rover (The Coming of Mr Quin)

In the short story The Coming of Mr Quin, Rover is the beloved pet dog of Derek Capel, the former owner of the country house Royston which is the setting of the events in the story. Some ten years earlier, Rover had wandered out of the house and got trapped in a snowdrift. A policeman rescued him and brought him to the house. Thus, by coincidence, the policeman was conveniently already in the house when Derek Capel committed suicide.
