Ronald “Ronnie” Barker, OBE (25 September 1929 – 3 October 2005) was an English actor, comedian and writer.
One of the UK's most beloved comics, Barker first gained recognition in the BBC Radio series The Navy Lark (alongside Leslie Phillips and Dennis Price), but is best remembered for his television sitcoms Porridge and Open All Hours, and for the long running sketch series The Two Ronnies opposite his comedy partner Ronnie Corbett.
Barker twice played a parody of Hercule Poirot for The Two Ronnies. Earlier in his career however, he had played the part legitimately on stage.
