In the short story The Girl in the Train, Rogers is the butler in the household of William Rowland. After William fired his nephew George from his investment firm, George decided to leave home as well. Rogers tried to persuade him not to take his uncle's bad temper to heart. He discussed possible destinations with him and helped to pack his case for the journey.
