In the novel Sad Cypress, Roger Wade is a confectioner's assistant in Maidensford. He does not appear in person, but is mentioned.
Roger is one of the witnesses of Mary Gerrard's will, in which she left everything to Mary Riley, the sister of her mother, Eliza Gerrard. The other witness is Emily Biggs, who is also a confectioner's assistant.
