In the novel The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side, Rod is one of the three children adopted by Marina Gregg. He was the youngest of them, merely a baby at the time and so hardly felt anything when Marina decided to abandon the adopted children. Margot Bence said that Rod has a happy nature and always had and at the time of the events in the book, he was working as a farmer in the American Mid West.
