In the novel The Hollow, Resthaven is a weekend cottage near The Hollow. It has been bought by Hercule Poirot who had succumded to the suggestion of his friends. Poirot did not like the countryside and was not particularly enthusiastic about Resthaven. The only thing he liked about the house was that it was quite square, like a box. It was "severely modern and rather dull". For Poirot the best thing about the property was the small vegetable garden neatly laid out in rows.
Resthaven is a neighbour of The Hollow as well as Dovecotes.
