In the L'étrange enlèvement du petit Bruno, the French adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly for the TV series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, Régine Bouchon is the parallel character of Jessie Withers from the original story. Régine is portrayed by Marylise Doctobre.
Like Jessie from the original story, Régine is the nurse of Bruno Zennefort, the Johnnie Waverly parallel. However she has a much larger role in this adaptation, a role which is somewhat similar to that of Withers portrayed in the 1989 ITV adaptation. Régine is regarded as a faithful and trusted member of the household but then Hadrien Debaer fires her on the morning when Bruno is scheduled to be kidnapped.
Somewhat the same thing happened to Jessie Withers, and just like Jessie, this, of course, turns out to be a front. Régine is in fact in cahoots with Hadrien in the kidnapping. After leaving the chateau, Régine crawls back into the grounds through a hole in the wall. Then she puts on a black wig and drives out of the chateau in a car. There is a child in the car so that, to those looking on, it appears that Bruno has been kidnapped. In fact, at this time, Bruno is still being kept hidden in the priest hole. The boy in Régine's car is her nephew. After the police leave the chateau, Hadrien brings Bruno to stay with Régine in the townhouse belonging to Régine's sister. This house is raided at the end of the episode. Régine is arrested and Bruno is freed.
