Orson Welles (1915 - 1985) was an American actor and filmmaker, widely cited as one of the greatest of all time. He was the director and/or star of cinematic classics such as Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, The Third Man, and Touch of Evil. Citizen Kane in particular is often hailed as one of the best films ever made.
He appeared in several Agatha Christie adaptations, most notably a 1939 radio adaptation of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd in which he starred as both Poirot and Dr. Sheppard, in addition to directing and producing the piece.
