Portrayals[]
In the BBC 1987 adaptation of the novel, the last name is changed to "Brent" and her firstname is not used. Mrs Brent is portrayed by Liz Fraser and has a large amount of screentime and lines. She is interviewed by Professor Wanstead at Miss Marple's request, in an effort to learn as much of Nora Brent's backstory as possible. Here, Mrs Brent had a husband named "Keith" who walked out on her, leaving her to look after Nora. Nora had the habit of going off, sometimes for days, and wouldn't be in touch. But sooner or later she would come back or call. However in this case, she was convinced Nora must be dead. Mrs Brent also revealed that Nora knew Verity Hunt personally. "Miss Hunt took quite a shine to my Nora", and she used to ask Nora for advice on matters relating to relationships. Verity didn't have a mother and her two guardians "those two old maids" were not useful for advice on such things.
