In the novel Cat Among the Pigeons, Mrs Upjohn is the mother of Julia Upjohn, a pupil at Meadowbank School for Girls. She is in her late thirties and has sand coloured hair. Her aunt was paying the school fees, so Julia could attend the school. She is on a bus trip in Anatolia.
Mrs Upjohn has been working in military intelligence, and at a Parent's Day at the school she recognises a woman from her time working in military intelligence.
Mrs Upjohn is a friend of Maureen Summerhayes.
