In the novel Dumb Witness, Mrs Samuels is mentioned. She is a client of Mr Gabler, a house agent in Market Basing. Hastings and Poirot overhear the name in passing when Miss Jenkins in the house agent office informs Mr Gabler that Mrs Samuels telephoned the office, and wanted him to call her at Holland 5391. Hastings was certain the phone number was wrong but thought Miss Jenkins had made the mistake deliberately to "punish" her boss for giving her the extra work of digging up the details of "Little Green House" for Poirot.
