In the novel Sleeping Murder, Mrs Mountford (née Pagett) is the sister of Edith Pagett, the former cook at Hillside. Mrs Mountford's husband is the local confectioner and they live next door to the wool shop at the Arcade in Dillmouth. Through a sales assistant at the wool shop, Miss Marple learnt about Mrs Mountford, and through her, managed to get in touch with Edith Pagett.
