In the novel Three Act Tragedy, Mrs Milray is the mother of Violet Milray, the secretary of Sir Charles Cartwright. Mrs Milray lives in Gilling, Kent and knew Rev Stephen Babbington, the first murder victim in the story.
Mrs Milray is described as "an immense dumpling of a woman immovably fixed in an armchair". She says that she lost the use of her limbs many years ago. However, her chair is conveniently placed to allow her to see out the window.
Mrs Milray tells Sir Charles and Hermione "Egg" Lytton Gore that the Babbingtons were well-liked in Gilling, had led very quiet lives, and had been very badly off. She cannot imagine who would have wanted to kill Rev Babbington.

Mrs Milray is not featured in Murder in Three Acts (1986). As for the television adaptation of Three Act Tragedy in Series 12 of ITV's Agatha Christie's Poirot drama series, Sir Charles and "Egg" go to Gilling in order to interview Mrs Milray but when they get there, they discover that she had died a short while ago, at the time that Sir Charles was in France. They find the grave which has on it the name "Violet Euphemia Milray". The first names are not given in the story.
