In the novel Mrs McGinty's Dead, Mrs Kiddle is the wife of Bert, a plasterer. The couple rented the cottage of the late Abigail McGinty from the Burches. At the time of the events in the book, they had been living there for some four months. She has two children, one of whom is named Ernie, as well as a baby. When Poirot visited her, she gave him a "tour" of the crime scene including the parlour where the body was found and the upstairs bedroom where the money was taken from. However nothing much remained that had once belonged to Mrs McGinty.
