In the short story The Tuesday Night Club, Mrs Jones is the wife of Albert Jones. Besides the couple, the household also included her companion Milly Clark and the maid Gladys Linch.

One night after dinner Mrs Jones was taken ill and she died during the night. Initially it is believed to be ptomaine poisoning, since all diners had become ill and tinned lobster (a common cause of ptomaine) had been served during the meal.
