In the novel The Pale Horse, Mrs Gerahty is the housekeeper of Father Gorman at his presbytery. She met and admitted Mike Potter when he first arrived at the presbytery to fetch Father Gorman for the dying Mrs Davis.
Father Gorman had earlier asked Mrs Gerahty to mend the lining of the pocket of his cassock. She had neglected to do so. This fact would prove significant in the plot.
