In the novel A Murder is Announced, Mrs Finch works for Mrs Swettenham in Chipping Cleghorn. She is described as "a grim-looking female in an aged velvet beret".

In the BBC 1985 adaptation of the novel, Mrs Finch does not appear.
In the ITV 2005 adaptation, Mrs Finch appears briefly but the actress who portrayed her is not credited. Mrs Finch comes into the dining room while Mrs Swettenham and Edmund are having breakfast. Edmund says that he is not finished, and tells her to go back to her room.
