In the novel The Murder at the Vicarage, Mrs Bucknell is mentioned by Miss Marple. She is the wife of Joe, the landlord of the Blue Boar, and the mother of Miss Bucknell. She had an affair with young Mr Bailey, but her husband thought that it was the daughter who was involved with him.
