In the novel The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side, Mrs Allcock is the wife of the Councillor of St. Mary Mead. Councillor and Mrs Allcock attend the fête at Gossington Hall, and are invited upstairs for a small private reception. They are just ahead of Dolly Bantry on the stairs. Mrs Allcock is stout, and breathes heavily after climbing the stairs.

At the reception, Jason Rudd asks Mrs Allcock if she would like to try a glass of vodka. She accepts the glass, but does not like the drink.

Mrs Allcock is interested in seeing how Marina Gregg and Jason Rudd have renovated the bathrooms, so she, Mrs Bantry, and two other women leave the reception briefly to look at the bathrooms. They attempt to look at the bedrooms as well, but the bedroom doors have been locked.

Portrayals[]

In the 1980 film The Mirror Crack'd, there is no Councillor Allcock. The role has been changed to become the Mayor, and his wife is the Mayoress. She is portrayed by actress Pat Nye.

In BBC's 1992 adaptation of the novel, the councillor and his wife do not appear. There is an unnamed mayor and his wife. They ascend the stairs just as before Heather Badcock is speaking to Marina Gregg.

In ITV's 2010 adaptation of the novel, the councillor is renamed "Leonard Hubbard" and Mrs Allcock becomes "Mrs Hubbard", a part played by Michele Dotrice. She and her husband ascend the stairs much earlier than Heather Badcock. After being introduced to Marina Gregg, Mrs Hubbard goes off exploring the upstairs with Dolly Bantry.
