In the authorised Miss Marple continuation short story Miss Marple Takes Manhattan, Mr Stimpleton is mentioned. Raymond West had taken Miss Marple to New York for the opening of a theatrical adaptation of one his novels. The play was being produced by G. Gregory Stapleton. When Miss Marple says that she has heard of Stapleton before, Raymond, who thinks Miss Marple knows very little about what is outside St. Mary Mead thinks it is impossible. He thinks, perhaps, Miss Marpe is thinking of Mr Stimpleton, the St. Mary Mead butcher.
