In the short story Greenshaw's Folly, Mr Naysmith was a beekeeper. He was good at making acrostics in the Sunday papers. He also liked to give people false impressions, just for fun. This sometimes led to trouble.
When Miss Marple heard about Miss Greenshaw's remark about a policeman, she came to think of Mr Naysmith.
