In the novel They do it with Mirrors, Mr Gilfoy was a lawyer with the firm Gilfoy, Gilfoy, Jaimes and Gilfoy. The firm drew up Carrie Louise Serrocold's will, as well as the original will of her first husband, Eric Gulbrandsen. Mr Gilfoy was also one of the original trustees of the Gulbrandsen Trust, and had been entrusted to oversee the finances of the Trust. When Mr Gilfoy died, Lewis Serrocold's great experience in accounting put him in almost complete control of the Trust funds.
