In the novel Sleeping Murder, Mr Galbraith is a retired estate agent, previously being part of the firm Galbraith & Penderley. He lives with his daughter Gladys at Calcutta Lodge in Dillmouth. Gwenda and Giles turns to him to find out who has lived at Hillside in the past.

Portrayals

BBC's Miss Marple

In the BBC 1987 adaptation of the novel, Mr Galbraith is portrayed by Edmond Scott. The portrayal is faithful to the original and his conversation with Giles and Gwenda runs along the same lines. His daughter Gladys is not seen on screen but Galbraith does call out to someone named Beryl for his drink.

ITV's Agatha Christie's Marple

Mr Galbraith is not featured in the ITV 2006 adaptation of the novel.

NHK's Anime adaptation

Mr Galbraith is featured in NHK's anime adaptation of Sleeping Murder. His name is not mentioned. He is described simply as a former employee of the estate agents. His memory is jogged when it is mentioned that Kelvin Halliday, a major in the army, had just come back from India. He remembers Halliday as a very loyal man. He confirms that Kelvin Halliday lived at Hillside and had a wife with beautiful blonde hair and a baby girl. However he could not remember the name of the wife. The voice actor behind the character is not credited.
