Agatha Christie Wiki

In the short story Death by Drowning, Mr Footit is the butcher in St. Mary Mead. His dog, Henry Footit, was run over the same day the body of Rose Emmott was found. Miss Marple passed by the shop and saw Mr Footit talking to Mrs Bantry. This told her that it was a opportune time to go to Gossington Hall because she wanted to see Sir Henry Clithering, who was staying there, and she wanted to catch him on his own.

Footit is also mentioned in the authorised continuation short story Miss Marple's Christmas. Here Dolly Bantry tells her husband that she hoped she was still in time to speak to Footit about putting in an order for another turkey. She thought she needed more food because of the large number of guests expected for her Christmas lunch.
