In the novel A Murder is Announced, Mr Elliot owns the antique shop in the High Street, next door to the Blue Bird Tea Room and Café in Chipping Cleghorn. He is an elderly man, and is described as an "elderly obese spider", who "peeled out of his web to appraise the possibilities of this new fly", a customer looking at the window display in his shop.

He sold a heavy glass doorstop to Letitia Blacklock, which Miss Hinchcliffe had been determined to buy.

Portrayals[]

Elliot does not appear in BBC adaptation of the novel which formed part of the Miss Marple series. However, Miss Marple is shown standing briefly outside an antique shop and Miss Hinchcliffe mentions that Miss Blacklock purchased the doorstop from Elliot.
