In the short story The Adventure of the Clapham Cook, Mr Davis was a bank employee. He disappeared soon after fifteen thousand pounds of negotiable securities had been stolen from the bank and this made him the prime suspect. Poirot later found that he had in fact been murdered by another bank employee Simpson to divert attention. The body of Davis was packed in a trunk and sent away. It was eventually discovered in Glasgow.
Davis also occured in the TV adaptation of the story but only his dead body was shown. The person who played the part was not credited.
