In the novel They Came to Baghdad, Mr Betoun Evans is the British Adviser at the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad. When Victoria Jones asked hotel proprietor Marcus Tio for directions to the museum, he more interested in telling her about how many of his friends highly recommend the place which is full of "interesting, very very old things". Marcus tells Victoria to ask for Mr Betoun Evans when she gets there. Marcus describes him in the same way as he describes almost all the men he knew, as a "very nice man". His wife is "very nice, too". She had come to Baghdad during the war as a transport sergeant.
