Monsieur Marchaud

In the novel Murder on the Links, Monsieur Marchaud is the sergent de ville of Merlinville, a position that probably corresponds to the local town constable. He assists his superiors Lucien Bex, the commissary of police and Monsieur Hautet, the investigating magistrate in their investigations into the murder of Paul Renauld. Marchaud attends to chores such as securing locations and escorting witnesses to be interviewed.
