In the short story The King of Clubs, Miss Oglander was the daughter of the family which lived in "Daisymead", the neighbour of "Mon Désir", the mansion belonging to Henry Reedburn. Poirot later learnt that the Oglander family had two daughters and the other was Valerie Saintclair.

Miss Saintclair's testimony that she was facing the window and was the first to see Valerie contradicted that of her mother Mrs Oglander. Her remark that she had bid one no trump at bridge led Poirot to study the cards closely and discover that one card was missing. These led Poirot to conclude that the Oglanders were not telling the whole truth.

Portrayals[]

Miss Oglander was played by Abigail Cruttenden in film adaptation of The King of Clubs in Series 1 of ITV's Agatha Christie's Poirot. There she was given the first name "Geraldine", a detail which was not present in the original story.
