In the short story The Affair of the Pink Pearl, Miss Beatrice Kingston Bruce is the daughter of Colonel and Mrs Kingston Bruce. Beatrice is sent to consult the The International Detective Agency, after one of the family's guests looses a valuable pearl. Both Tommy and Tuppence find it rather strange that Beatrice seemed reluctant for detectives to get involved and almost relieved when Tommy says they are rather busy. Later, Tommy and Tuppence also discover that there was a two hour gap between leaving her house and her arrival at the agency. She had apparently gone to see Mr Rennie. She is in love with Mr Rennie, but since he is a socialist her father strongly disapprove of the liaison.
