In the novel The Moving Finger, Minnie Barton was the late sister of Emily Barton. They were among five sisters who lived under a tyrannical "Victorian" mother at Little Furze. According to Mr. Pye Minnie had an operation, didn't recover, and died some time before the events in the novel. Going by Mr Pye's account, Minnie would appear to be the second last to have died.
